Gerard van Honthorst - Adoration of the Child

Prelude: “While By My Sheep”

Mark Hayes

Carol: “O Come, All Ye Faithful”

A Prayer of Intercession

We pray, O God, for your people wherever they are gathered today on this day of worship and celebration. Some are worshipping in great stone cathedrals; others in mud plaster huts. Some are sitting on padded pews and others on wooden slats. Some of your people are dressed in the latest fashions and finest garb, while others are clothed in basic and threadbare garments. Some of your people are worshipping openly; others are huddled behind closed doors. Some are singing with grand pipe organs and others with the aid of rescue-mission pianos.  Many are worshiping in their own homes.

But Lord, wherever your people are, we ask that the peace and joy of worship be ours, for we have arrived at this Christmas Sunday all for the same reason, to worship the Christ-child, Jesus Christ, who gathers all worshippers together under His name whatever their circumstance of meeting, and in whose name we pray. Amen.
