McPhail Baptist Church Christmas Eve 2021 Prelude: “I Wonder As I Wander” Carol: “O Come All Ye Faithful” A Christmas Prayer O God, let this Christmas find us full of awe and wonder as we turn again to Bethlehem. Here is the focal point of history. Here is where You stepped into the frame of time and joined the human race, above it, but yet in it. O God, let this Christmas deepen our sense of the Incarnation, the ‘Word made Flesh’ event of history. Our shopping is over now, and soon it will be time for the birth of your Son. And just for a few hours the cash registers and wars around the world will grow strangely quiet. Then, O Lord, the world for a few moments will hear a mother’s sweet prayer and a baby’s low cry. Lead us to Bethlehem once again, we pray, and from there help us to keep the spirit of Christmas all year round. This we pray in the name of Jesus, the Babe of Bethlehem, and the Christ of the Cross. McPhail Baptist Church Oct 25th 2020 Anniversary Sunday - 132 Years! Prelude: "Prayer op.47, no.4” (by Alexandre Guilmant) Sue Sparks Today, we welcome back to the organ Sue Sparks. Sue was in the church this week for the first time in many weeks, recording some pieces for today’s service. Sue was away from the organ for a number of weeks first to be on hand for the birth of her granddaughter, and then having to cope with the sudden loss of her husband Steve. We appreciate Sue’s dedication and devotion to her music and know that our congregation will continue to uphold Sue, Chris and family in thought, prayers and support. Help us to rejoice and be glad in this day, and all the days of the week ahead. Help us in this day, and all the days ahead to be aware of those around us, and help us to be aware of Your presence. Help us this week to grow in acceptance rather than impatience.
