McPhail Baptist Church

The Good and Evil Angels' by William Blake

Prelude: "Largo"

Hymn: “God is Love, Let Heaven Adore Him”

Prayer

Gracious God,  we come to be quiet in your presence. You are the Creator of all that is. We live and move and breathe and have our being in You. We want to be silent before the mystery of your greatness.

We give thanks that out of the silence of the universe your living Word has spoken. You have given form and beauty to the world. You have given meaning to life’s emptiness. You have forgiven our sin, and placed within our hearts the belief that we are loved, and in turn, are called to love.

Lord Jesus Christ, in whose face we have dared to see the face of God, speak again in this hour. Open our inner ears to hear your voice, and fill our lives with your tender love. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Do not be too righteous, and do not act too wise; why should you destroy yourself? Do not be too wicked, and do not be a fool; why should you die before your time?”
