Prelude: “Ich ruf’ zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ”

(I call to you, Lord Jesus Christ) J. S. Bach

Hymn: “Great God, Your Love Has Called Us”

Prayer

Dear God, this is the day You have made, a day in which we give to You our praise and worship. Help us to rejoice and be glad in this day, and all the days of the week ahead. Help us in this day, and all the days ahead to be aware of those around us, and help us to be aware of Your presence.

Help us this week to grow in acceptance rather than impatience. Open our eyes to see the miracle of sunrise and the silent joy of sunset, and open our souls so that Your presence might invade us and make us whole, both to ourselves and to those around us. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.

Scripture Reading

Matt 21:28-31 (NRSV)

“What do you think? A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ He answered, ‘I will not’; but later he changed his mind and went. The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, ‘I go, sir’; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you.”
