Prelude in Eb Major (A. Guilmant)

Hymn: Come, Christians, Join To Sing

Prayer

We are grateful, O God, for the signs of your presence in our everyday lives. Throughout times of sorrow, we have felt your comforting presence; and for this we give thanks.

In the beauty of the natural world, we have become aware of your creative genius; and for this we give thanks.

During times of temptation, we have felt the tugging of your Spirit, and for this we give thanks. In the throes of panic situations, we have felt a surge of your strength; and for this we give thanks. In the remarkable coincidences of life, we have seen your providence at work; and for this we give thanks.

When we had all but given up, You surprised us with an answer to prayer; and for this, and for all things, we give thanks in our Saviour’s name. Amen.

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!

Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.

Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!

God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,

Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;

Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,

Which wert and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!

All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth, and sky, and sea;

Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!

God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

God, Who Made The Earth and Heaven

God, who made the earth and heaven, darkness and light;

You the day for work have given, for rest the night.

May your angel guards defend us, slumber sweet your mercy send us,

Holy dreams and hopes attend us all through the night.

And when morn again shall call us to run life’s way,

May we still, whate’er befall us, your will obey.

From the power of evil hide us, in the narrow pathway guide us,

Never be your smile denied us all through the day.

Holy Father, throned in heaven, all holy Son,

Holy Spirit, freely given, blest Three in one:

Grant us grace, we now implore you, till we lay our crowns before you,

And in worthier strains adore you while ages run.

Love, Divine, All Loves Excelling

Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven to earth come down,

Fix in us thy humble dwelling, all thy faithful mercies crowns.

Jesus, thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love thou art;

Visit us with thy salvation, enter every trembling heart.

Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit into every troubled breast;

Let us all in the inherit, let us find the promised rest.

Take away the love of sinning, Alpha and Omega be;

End of faith, as its beginning, set our hearts at liberty.

Come, almighty to deliver, let us all thy life receive;

Suddenly return, and never, nevermore thy temples leave.

Thee we would be always blessing, serve thee as thy hosts above,

Pray and praise thee without ceasing, glory in thy perfect love.
