Prayer: A PRAYER OF THANKFUL HEARTS

Gracious God, as we draw near to the end of this year 2020, we look back and are grateful that through the many experiences and changes of the past year, whether in gladness or grief, in silence or song, that your love for us remains constant and that You have loved us with an everlasting love, a love that moves us to love others.

For the new things we have learned, for life that we know a little better, for friends who are closer to us and for loved ones who are more precious than ever, we give You thanks.

The gifts have been given O God, and the presents opened. Help us now and in the time ahead given to us, to open our hearts and lives to each other and to your gracious presence. This we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Announcements

*A Word of Thanks: For the past 9 months or so, our “weblog crew” have produced online services each and every Sunday, with only a short break of two Sundays in the summer. The services consist of organ preludes and postludes, hymns of the church accompanied by piano and organ, special music, scripture readings, and sermons from Ernie and Steve.

The main crew for the production side of things involve Ernie, Steve, Sue, and Jordan. Musical contributions come from Ernie, Sue, Lynda, and our various guest musicians, Terri-Ann Wint, Margot Lange, Rennatha Bernadin, Laura Monchuk,  Owen and Logan Bueckert, and Vanessa Lumpkin.

We are very grateful to our musicians who volunteer their time and talent to enhance our Sunday online services. We thank them for their wonderful contributions during the past 9 months, and we look forward to their contributions into the new year.

It may surprise some to know that it requires much more work to produce a Sunday weblog than it does to organize a Sunday worship service in the church. The person who does a lot of work for us but who works behind the scenes 4000 kms away, is Jordan Cox. It is hard to imagine what we would have done without Jordan’s technical work behind the scenes, from editing the videos, to adding Christmas scenes and scrolling titles to the carols, he has spent hours putting things together for us, often needing to take a break to get Ollie to sleep, or to give Pam a break. We extend to him our heartfelt thanks.

*Please note that there will not be a weblog edition next Sunday (January 3rd). The McPhail weblog resumes Sunday January 10th.

*We are excited to now offer an e-transfer option for McPhail offerings. If you would like to make use of this option, offerings can be sent via online banking to offerings@mcphailbaptist.ca If possible, please include your envelope number in the memo line. For those who would prefer mailing in their offering, funds can be sent via post to: McPhail Baptist Church, 249 Bronson Ave, Ottawa, ON. K1R 6H6 We are deeply thankful for your ongoing support of this ministry!
