Prelude: “Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming”

Sue Sparks

Advent Hymns

People! Sound the Note of Gladness

People! sound the note of gladness tell the news that Christ is here.

Make a pathway through the desert for the one who brings God near.

Sound the trumpet! tell the message!

Christ the saving One has come!

People! sound the note of pardon those repenting are forgiven.

God receives with love his children, and to all new life is given.

Sound the trumpet! tell the message!

Christ the saving One has come!

People! sound the note of triumph Christ has come to share our life.

Bringing God’s own love and power, granting victory in our strife.

Sound the trumpet! tell the message!

Christ the Saving One has come!

Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne

Thou didst leave thy throne and thy kingly crown when thou camest to earth for me;

But in Bethlehem’s home there was found no room for thy holy nativity:

Refrain:

O come to my heart, Lord Jesus, there is room in my heart for thee.

Heaven’s arches rang when the angels sang, proclaiming thy royal degree;

But in lowly birth thou didst come to earth, and in great humility:

When the heavens shall ring, and the angels sing, at thy coming to victory,

Let thy voice call me home, saying, “Yet there is room, there is room at my side for thee.”

Infant Holy, Infant Lowly

Infant holy, infant lowly, for his bed a cattle stall;

Oxen lowing, little knowing Christ the babe is Lord of all.

Swift are winging angels singing, noels ringing, tidings bringing;

Christ the babe is Lord of all.

Flocks were sleeping, shepherds keeping vigil till the morning new,

Saw the glory, heard the story, tidings of a gospel true.

Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow, praises voicing, greet the morrow;

Christ the babe was born for you.

Joy to The World!

Joy to the world! the Lord is come;let earth receive her King;

Let ev'ry heart prepare him room,

And heav'n and nature sing, and heav'n and nature sing,

And heav'n, and heav'n and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! the Saviour reigns; let all their songs employ,

While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains

Repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy,

Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sin and sorrow grow, nor thorns infest the ground;

He comes to make his blessings flow

Far as the curse is found, far as the curse is found,

Far as, far as the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace, and makes the nations prove

The glories of his righteousness,

And wonders of his love, and wonders of his love,

And wonders, wonders of his love.

Hymn: “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus”

Sue Sparks

Come, Thou long expected Jesus! born to set Thy people free.

From our fears and sins release us, let us find our rest in Thee.

Israel’s strength and consolation, hope of all the earth Thou art;

Dear Desire of every nation, joy of every longing heart.

Born Thy people to deliver, born a child, and yet a King.

Born to reign in us forever, now Thy gracious kingdom bring.

By Thy own eternal Spirit, rule in all our hearts alone;

By Thy all sufficient merit, raise us to Thy glorious throne.
