Prelude: “Reverie” by Denis Bedard

Jesus Shall Reign

Jesus shall reign where'er the sun

Does its successive journeys run;

His kingdom stretch from shore to shore,

Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

People and realms of every tongue

Dwell on his love with sweetest song,

And infant voices shall proclaim,

Their early blessings on his name.

Let all the people rise and bring

Their special honours to our King;

Angels descend with songs again,

And earth repeat the loud amen.

More Love To Thee

More love to Thee, O Christ, more love to thee:

Hear thou the prayer I make on bended knee;

This is my earnest plea: more love, O Christ, to thee,

More love to thee, more love to thee!

Once earthly joy I craved, sought peace and rest;

Now thee alone I seek, give what is best;

This all my prayer shall be:more love, O Christ, to thee,

More love to thee, more love to thee!

Then shall my latest breath whisper thy praise;

This be the parting cry my heart shall raise;

This still its prayer shall be: more love, O Christ, to thee,

More love to thee, more love to thee!

He Lives

I serve a risen Saviour, he’s in the world today;

I know that he is living, whatever others say;

I see his hand of mercy, I hear his voice of cheer,

And just the time I need him he’s always near.

Refrain

He lives, he lives, Christ Jesus lives today!

He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.

He lives, he lives, salvation to impart!

You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing

Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!

The Hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find,

None other is so loving, so good and kind.

Special Music:

"When I Survey The Wondrous Cross"

For our special music presentation today, it’s my pleasure to introduce Laura Monchuk to you. Laura originally comes from Oklahoma, raised in a musical family, and now lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. When she and her husband Clinton moved to Ottawa, they attended Fourth Ave. Baptist Church. Laura and I sang many duets together and before Laura moved to Saskatoon, we made a CD of country gospel style duets entitled In Sweet Accord. If anyone would like a copy of the CD, let me know” - Ernie

Hymn: “God Of Our Life"

Sue Sparks

God of our life, through all the circling years, we trust in you;

In all the past, through all our hopes and fears, your hand we view.

With each new day, when morning lifts the veil,

We own your mercies, Lord, which never fail.

 God of the past, our times are in your hand; with us abide.

Lead us by faith, to hope's true Promised Land; be now our guide.

With you to bless, the darkness shines as light,

And faith's fair vision changes into sight.

God of the coming years, thro' paths unknown we follow you;

When we are strong, Lord, leave us not alone; our faith renew.

Be now for us in life our daily bread,

Our heart's true home when all our years have sped.

Announcements

*During this time of Covid some of our students have been unsure about returning to college or university. However, from what we know it seems that attending college or university will be a mix of online and in-class learning.

We want our college and university students to know that bursary money is available for any of our students returning to college or university.  To date just one student has applied for bursary money and we will announce that bursary award next Sunday, September 13.

*We are excited to now offer an e-transfer option for McPhail offerings. If you would like to make use of this option, offerings can be sent via online banking to offerings@mcphailbaptist.ca If possible, please include your envelope number in the memo line. A special thanks to Steve Sparks and Samantha Helman for setting this up for us! For those who would prefer mailing in their offering, funds can be sent via post to: McPhail Baptist Church, 249 Bronson Ave, Ottawa, ON.
