Prelude:  “Psaume 86” (Denis Bedard)

Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;
Listen to my cry of supplication.
In the day of my trouble I call on you,
For you will answer me.

Teach me your way, O Lord,
That I may walk in your truth;
Give me an undivided heart to revere your name.
I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
And I will glorify your name forever.

Hymn: “Sing Praise To The Lord”

Prayer

Great and majestic God, your creative power, your glory and holiness are beyond our imagining, yet You chose to pour your love into our hearts in a most personal way—by sharing our humanity in Jesus Christ.  He revealed  the human face of your love, and through His sacrificial love demonstrated  the depth of divine love for us.

Loving God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer, we come seeking forgiveness, for when we have failed to live out the commandment to love one another as Christ loves us. Forgive us when we have judged others by their possessions or achievements, rather than accepting them as persons loved and accepted by You. Fill us anew with your creative and life-changing power that we may glorify your name in all that we say and do. Amen.

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 1:15-20

I wanted to come to you first, so that you might have a double favour; 16 I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and to come back to you from Macedonia and have you send me on to Judea. 17 Was I vacillating when I wanted to do this? Do I make my plans according to ordinary human standards, ready to say “Yes, yes” and “No, no” at the same time? 18 As surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been “Yes and No.” 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you,  was not “Yes and No”; but in him it is always “Yes.” 20 For in him every one of God’s promises is a “Yes.”
